President Trump’s nominee for the Associate Justice position left vacant by the untimely death of Antonin Scalia has finally been confirmed today in the Senate — by a vote of 54-45. Neil M. Gorsuch, formerly a federal judge on the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, is considered by most conservative pundits to be an “originalist” (similar to Justice Scalia) when it comes to interpreting the various clauses of the U.S. Constitution.
Conservatives are virtually unanimous in their collective approval of this outcome; as one of the greatest driving forces behind Trump’s campaign momentum was the urgency of preventing Hillary Clinton from making the high court decidedly progressive for a generation or more. This confirmation comes as a relief for many, including a few conservatives who were intensely skeptical of Trump’s sincerity to follow through on his promises, and actually went so far as to join the #nevertrump rallying cry. Sean Hannity, from Fox News, poked fun at those people today after the successful confirmation of the president’s nominee, and many conservatives joined in the chorus of approval.
Special message TO: “Never Trump” Peeps!! Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch. You are all welcome. FROM: irredeemable Deplorable Americans

Judge Gorsuch is one of the most qualified Supreme Court nominees in our nation’s history. I was honored to vote to confirm him. pic.twitter.com/e5XvKFNUL6

Of course liberals, still upset with the loss of Hillary Clinton, have remained irrationally hysterical in light of Gorusch’s confirmation; insisting that he is an “illegitimate” Justice put in place by an “illegitimate” President, and that the whole process was enveloped by a “cloud of corruption.”
Senate confirms Neil Gorsuch to Supreme Court, under big, black cloud of corruption https://t.co/QZQ9zDCwgY

Despite the fact that Neil Gorsuch is probably the single most qualified candidate that has ever been nominated to the Supreme Court, the same progressives who are talking about “corruption” almost elected a woman who many consider to be the single most corrupt candidate in the history of U.S. presidential politics (Hillary Clinton) to the Oval Office. Her widely varied (and often flagrant) violations of (and disrespect for) the rule of law, the U.S. Constitution and basic human decency (i.e. compulsive and continuously lying about virtually any and every thing) render the “corruption” protesting of these progressives to be an intolerably hypocritical stench in America’s collective nostrils — one that is likely responsible for the Republicans now holding both houses of Congress, the presidency and (ideologically) the Supreme Court. Fortunately, there were three Democrat Senators who did not succumb to the childish nonsense of the majority of their own party and cast votes in favor of Gorsuch’s confirmation — Indiana’s Joe Donnelly, West Virginia’s Joe Manchin and North Dakota’s Heidi Heitkamp.
What do you think? Will Gorsuch be faithful to the intentions of the founders who framed and penned the words of our Constitution? Or will he end up going his own way like Justice Roberts or Justice Kennedy? Let us know on Facebook or in the comments below.
