Top Ten NES Games That Are Still Fun Today

7) Super C

Super C is a great example of a side-scroller done right. This is the NES port of the arcade sequel to Contra. In the game you play as Bill (Player 2 is Lance if they are playing) and your goal is to fight through the enemy lines and destroy the mutated alien boss. This game series also made the Konami code popular (It wasn’t the first series to use it however. Gradius was the first NES game to incorporate the Konami code), but this game didn’t have the original Konami code in it. I personally find it easier to play over the first Contra due to it’s improved graphics and the alternate vertical scrolling levels (as opposed to Contra’s attempt at 3D which can leave many who are new to the NES very confused). It is also challenging, has interesting bosses, and is loads of fun to play with a friend. Getting the power up which gives your character a spread shot is still one of my greatest gaming memories. The cheat code for this game to give 10 lives (in the US version) is Right, Left, Down, Up, A, B, Start.
