Top Ten NES Games That Are Still Fun Today

6) Super Mario Bros 2

This second installment of Super Mario Bros added several characters to the lineup and introduced a new cast of enemies and bosses. It is my favorite of the 3 NES titles released in the US and I feel that it gets very high marks for replayability. Graphically, the game looks nothing like it’s predecessor or any other installment in the Super Mario series. Enemies are killed by throwing vegetables at them or by picking them up and throwing them for the most part. Bosses have unique mechanics that must be learned to advance and there are a whole slew of hidden rooms and secrets that can be uncovered in the game. It’s soundtrack, especially the overworld theme, is one of the most catchy tunes from the NES era in my opinion. SMB 2’s character animations, colorful backgrounds, interesting character concepts and memorable soundtrack put it at #6 on our list.
