Socialism. A word synonymous with the totalitarian power of the state. A word that used to carry extremely negative connotations in the United States — and for good reason. People, at least for a little while, remembered the horrors that were visited upon the world during the 1930’s, 40’s and 50’s thanks to socialism, and its unholy taint upon some of Earth’s most powerful and populous nations (Germany [National Socialist German Workers [Nazi] Party], Russia [Union of Soviet Socialist Republics], China [Communist Party of China], etc.) What were the outcomes of its promised “benevolence?” Genocide. War. Poverty. Economic and social devastation of an historic and unmatched magnitude. These are the ultimate fruits of this demonstrably terrible (and evil) philosophy.
