We are all students to some degree when we absorb information/misinformation from others in the process of becoming more knowledgeable. We learn from our parents, teachers, ministers, friends, enemies, and others. The information we receive directly or indirectly may be the truth, lies, opinions, rumors, etc. We are called to seek the truth, to know it, apply it, and convey it to others.
Teaching is the means of facilitating learning in another; we are all teachers to some extent. I have attended dozens of classes from K to PhD, and learned a wide variety of subjects, from numerous individuals; parents, family, teachers, ministers, employers, friends, enemies, and others. Most of what I have learned on my life’s journey has been focused on worldly topics. There have been a few excellent teachers, a number of good ones, and quite a few who were evidently in the wrong career field.
Some twenty-four years ago, I enrolled in the DHE program — Doctorate in Higher Enlightenment. The textbook for the course is the Bible, and several ministers have served as my instructors. Like most of my classes in the past, there is homework to be completed. One good thing is that I can proceed at my own pace. The teacher is Jesus Christ; He calls each of us to be one of His disciples (students) when He says, “Follow Me.” Those were the same two words He uttered to His disciples many years ago (Mt.4:19). One of the requirements in the course is that we must abide in His Word (Jn. 8:31).
